Curriculum and Faculty Enhancement (CFEP)
Helping Institutions Expand Existing Faculty Development and Academic Programs and Create New Ones

This program supports member institutions in recruiting and retaining a diverse community of highly qualified faculty members as well as strengthening their overall academic programs to better prepare students for careers in the 21st century.

CFEP provides resources for HBCU faculty to:
1)     Use innovative and effective teaching strategies as well as new technologies
2)     Design cutting-edge curricula
3)     Conduct scholarly research
4)     Navigate the promotion and tenure process
5)     Advance their careers

CFEP also provides grants and technical assistance to UNCF-member institutions as they seek to develop cutting-edge academic programs in a range of disciplines.

Four strategies are used to help institutions conceptualize and build faculty development and curriculum enhancement programs:
  • Conducting assessments of the strengths and needs in these related areas
  • Awarding grants to institutions to support planning and implementation of new initiatives through a competitive RFP process
  • Assigning consultants to provide technical assistance
  • Building a community of practice for faculty and academic affairs administrators through such activities as roundtables, institutes, conferences and an online faculty development clearinghouse.
