Grants Awarded
Sixteen UNCF-member institutions have received faculty enhancement or teacher education preparation grants.
 
UNCF/Ford Faculty Enhancement Initiative
Launched with support from the Ford Foundation, this initiative assists institutions in assessing and enhancing existing faculty development programs. It also assists institutions in creating faculty development programs where none exists. Planning grants have been awarded to 15 UNCF-member institutions. In addition, Faculty Enhancement Action Grants—each totaling $111,000—have been awarded to six institutions. 
 
UNCF Math and Science Teacher Education Initiative
This program develops a model for preparing and retaining math and science teachers in urban communities. The three-year pilot is being conducted at Virginia Union University with support from the Altria Group.
 
UNCF Digital Media and Learning Initiative
The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation provided support for the UNCF Digital Media and Learning in Multicultural Contexts Public Forum Series convened at three member institutions in spring 2010. These events provided opportunities for students and faculty from HBCUs and other Minority Serving institutions to learn about and discuss emerging themes in digital media and learning, such as participatory learning, new networked learning environments, and issues related to application and rules of engagement.. UNCF-AVID Alliance 
UNCF and AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), a college preparation program, are planning a pilot pipeline program to provide African American and Latino high school graduates who participated  in AVID programs the opportunity to attend and graduate from UNCF member institutons.
 
UNCF - Community College Pipeline Initiative  
CFEP and EMP are exploring the establishment of a pipeline program with select community colleges and select UNCF-member institutions. The directors of CFEP and EMP now are formalizing a partnership with the IVY Tech community college system in Indiana.
