Dr. Sylvia Carey-Butler, Director, HBCU Enrollment Management Program
Dr. Sylvia R. Carey-Butler oversees and manages the UNCF Enrollment Management Program. Prior to joining UNCF she served as assistant provost and dean of honors at Dillard University in New Orleans. She has also served as the Assistant Dean of Studies at Lafayette College in Easton, PA, Director of the Higher Education Opportunity Program at St. John Fisher College in Rochester, New York and directed similar programs within the State University of New York system.
She received her under graduate degree from the State University of New York at Oneonta, her masters from Binghamton University and her Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from Peabody College, Vanderbilt University.
During her 29 years in the academy she has worked at both public and private institutions as well as community colleges. She has received numerous awards for her service in higher education. In 2006 Dr. Carey-Butler was selected as the Alumnae of the Year at her undergraduate institution, the first African American to receive such an award.
Dr. Carey-Butler has researched and presented extensively on student success in higher education, recruitment and retention, and African American women administrators in the academy. She is currently focused on African American male student success in the academy.
Ms. Linda Curiel, Director, HBCU Institutional Advancement Program
Linda has been an advancement professional for more than 20 years. Before joining UNCF, she served as the Associate Vice President for Advancement at Dillard University. She has also served as the interim Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Dillard and Vice President for Development for the Neuroscience Center of Excellence at the LSU Health Sciences Center.
She has extensive senior-level experience creating fundraising models based on best practices to meet the diverse and specialized needs of institutions. She has more than 10 years of experience working with HBCUs, and extensive experience building advancement and development programs for special mission and educational organizations.
Her professional background includes developing major gift, annual fund and corporate and foundation programs as well as advancement training programs and developing operational and long-range fundraising plans to increase an institution’s competitive advantage in the philanthropic market. She received her BA in Art History from Louisiana State University.
Ms. Felicia Davis, Director, HBCU Facilities and Infrastructure Enhancement Program
For over a decade environmental advocate, and newly appointed Director of the UNCF Institute for Capacity Building’s Building Green Initiative, Felicia M. Davis, has worked to ensure diverse participation in America’s transition to a green and sustainable economy. On an international level Davis has participated in United Nations conferences in Nairobi, Geneva, The Hague, Poznan and, most recently, coordinated the National Coalition Black Women’s Roundtable delegation to the UN Climate Conference held last December in Copenhagen, Denmark that included more than 15,000 delegates, 100 heads of state, several US cabinet members, and President Obama. Davis also created innovative “eco-cyber-centers” in Ghana, Senegal, and South Africa that successfully integrated digital technology, environmental stewardship, and cultural exchange.
Prior to joining the UNCF Institute for Capacity Building staff, Ms. Davis served as vice president of Women Flying High, LLC, a small business development company dedicated to increasing women’s participation in contracts with the City of Atlanta. Formerly she was the Program Manager for the Georgia Conservancy’s Mothers & Others for Clean Air, and before that the Georgia Airkeeper Director where she applied organizing and coalition building skills to increase African American involvement in air quality and climate issues. As a co-author of the critical Air of Injustice Report, she brought together the Georgia Coalition for the Peoples’ Agenda, Black Leadership Forum, Clean Air Task Force and the Clear the Air Campaign in a historic collaboration. She credits her Howard University education, the Benjamin Mays Resource Center, and work with the American Council on Education early in her career with providing a solid foundation in higher education issues and administration.
Mr. Stanton P. Hill, PMP, Program Manager, Budget, Compliance and Reporting
Stanton Hill joined UNCF in 2006 with the responsibility for budgeting and project management for ICB and its six program components.
Stanton originally joined UNCF as a Business Analyst but was promoted to his current position in 2009. He has most recently been the Assistant Director of the SUCCESS Program in Fairfield, Connecticut. While serving in that capacity, he oversaw the day-to-day operations of the program, managed over 60 individuals, and assisted in budgeting and strategic planning.
He received his BA in Management along with a minor in Psychology from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia and is currently an MBA candidate at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts.
